MPP Brady sworn in at Queen’s Park

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

July 7,2022

QUEEN’S PARK – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady was officially sworn in at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on Tuesday, July 5. Brady is a member of Ontario’s 43rd Parliament.

“As the elected representative for the good people of Haldimand-Norfolk I now have the ability to participate in all parliamentary proceedings and will have all the rights and privileges afforded to all elected members of Ontario’s provincial parliament,” Brady said. “The swearing in ceremony was more significant as the Clerk of the Ontario Legislature, Todd Decker, is from my hometown of Delhi.”

Brady is the first MPP, who was not already elected, to come in as an Independent in over 100 years. She is the first female to be elected as an Independent in Ontario.

Besides Brady’s family, former MPP Toby Barrett and his wife were among those in attendance at the ceremony.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to Toby for his support in my political career,” Brady said. “Toby has been a terrific friend and fine mentor over the past 23 years, and provided much encouragement throughout the recent provincial election. I would be remiss if I did not give thanks to the people of the riding who have put their faith in me by going to the ballot box and doing something that was not expected of them – to you all, thank you for being courageous.”
