This Mother’s Day go fishing!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 11, 2023

SIMCOE – To kick off the spring fishing season, families and fishing enthusiasts across Ontario can celebrate Mother’s Day with free fishing this weekend.

“This is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the natural resources our area has to offer,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady. “With Lake Erie and several major rivers, there are many local fishing spots.”

If you are fishing for free on the Mother’s Day weekend, all conservation licence catch limits, size limits, sanctuaries and all other fishing regulations and rules still apply. Those taking part must also carry government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth.

There is also a free family fishing weekend on Father’s Day weekend and Family Fishing Week, July 1-9, around Canada Day.

Outside of these special events, most Ontario residents 18 to 65 require a license to fish.
